Hello Everyone,
Welcome to my August newsletter.
Krakatoa flier Krakatoa – East of Java’ Limited Edition Fine Art Prints.
Some months ago we were contacted by Ivan E. Smith, the owner of Avondale Fine Art in Ireland to participate in a series of limited edition fine art prints that his Company were planning to produce. The first of these an excellent, limited edition, numbered print is released this month and features myself in the movie ‘Krakatoa – East of Java’. All prints are signed by myself and the Artist, Mark Baker, who is Ireland’s premier portrait artist.
The prints are available direct from Avondale Fine Art and full ordering details are available at www.avondalefineart.com.
Krakatoa I have many fond memories of the time I spent during the filming of ‘Krakatoa’ on location in Majorca and in the studio in Madrid. Pictured are a couple of stills from the film and also the front cover of the souvenir brochure that was available at cinemas during the UK showings and contained a John Leyton ‘bio’. Many thanks to Babs Male who kindly supplied us with a copy of this rare brochure.

The organisers of the Fantastic Film Festival that I am attending in Manchester at the end of this month are planning to screen ‘Krakatoa’ and possibly two other feature films that I appeared in as part of the weekend’s events www.fantastic-films.com/festival.

Recent related events have seen the showing on TV of episodes of ‘Crown Court’ and ‘Dangerous Davies’ that I appeared in and also the showing of the film ‘Guns at Batasi’. I have also been interviewed by Eric ‘Monster’ Hall for his BBC radio programme and have just completed an interview with Keith ‘ Cardboard Shoes’ Skues for a forthcoming 2 part special, again Keith’s programme is aired on BBC Radio. I also attended the launch party for the really excellent Billy Fury ‘His Wondrous Story’ DVD that is now available.

Telstar. – The film. The filming of Nick Moran’s excellent play on the life of Joe Meek commences production this month and I have been asked to play a cameo role. More details as we get them.

Geoff Goddard
Sky Men As many of you will be aware I am a great admirer of the late Geoff Goddard’s ability as a composer and pianist. Chris Knight, one of the founders of the original RGM Joe Meek Society and a personal friend of Geoff’s has very kindly supplied us with some rare items from his personal collection. Check out the Fans Page on the website to view some of them. Should any of you have similar rare items that you wish to share with us we will be delighted to receive copies of them.
